“Should I stay or should I go now?’, to quote a lyric from a song by The Clash. That was my internal mental conversation for literally 2 hours.
Everyone has been experiencing frigid, unusual winter weather. In fact, our temperatures of wind chills of -55 degrees were compared to living in Antarctica. Antarctica!
But as weather is in Wisconsin, 2 days later it was a balmy 3 degrees. It felt like a heat wave.
After being hunkered down with the -55 wind chills, the idea of driving to the gym was not at all appealing. I have a treadmill, and will watch Netflix, as I put in my miles but the pool is magical in that I have less aches and pains the following day. So that is when I had the internal battle of “should I stay and walk on the treadmill, or bundle up in layers and winter boots to then take them off and get wet”. Not very enticing.
My husband, who is my biggest supporter on this lifestyle change of getting healthy, encouraged me to go. So I did. And it felt great!
So on those days when you feel like hiding under the comforter and watching TV, push yourself to get moving. Not only does it improve your physical health, but does wonders for your mental health too.
What ever you prefer for exercise just choose to move!
